BOOK DESCRIPTION
Reading the journals and letters of a mature believer who died at an early age is an edifying experience - especially when that believer was a missionary. Louisa Lowrie died from tuberculosis when she was 24 years old, just after she had married the Rev. Mr. John Cameron Lowrie and journeyed with him to the mission field in India. Her devotion to the Lord, her faith in suffering, and her desire for the gospel to go to the nations are an example for every disciple of Jesus.
ENDORSEMENTS
"Christian daughters and mothers crave pious examples of self-denial such as Louisa. While the heathen perish unobstructed on a path to hell, shall we sit idly by? A shot in the arm to anemic Christianity—may her ultimate sacrifice stir us and ignite a passion anew to implore God to send the gospel to the ends of the earth, and then be the answer to that prayer!”
— Melinda Schlehlein
“It was an encouragement to catch a glimpse of a woman who felt such a burden for the lost that she was willing to sacrifice all to see God’s glory known among them. Her writings tell of a woman who was refreshingly normal in her struggles. She had a high view of God and a practical view of eternity that made the bonds of this world seem light and frivolous. Though her life on the mission field was incredibly short, her writings point to a woman who longed to be used by God and consequently she pressed into hard things. My prayer is that by reading this book others may find the courage to live a life of faithfulness to God as Louisa longed to do.”
